A Janis experience

Today on my drive to work, which I must say is much more enjoyable since I vacuumed my car and bought a new air freshener, Janis Joplin came on the radio.
My favorite song, Me and Bobby Mcgee. I cranked it up as loud as it could go and sang my little heart out. I didn't care who saw me, it didn't matter that I don't know half the words in the first part of the song, it never occurred to me that I may be swerving slightly over the dotted lines and driving a little too fast. I was singing my favorite song. It seeped out of the speakers, dribbled down the dash and crawled all over me. I bobbed my head, I swayed my hips and I pounded my fist to the beat...that was all before my favorite verse. My all time favorite of all favorite parts of a song...
"La la la, la la la la, la la la, la la la la
La la la la la Bobby McGee.
La la la la la, la la la la la
La la la la la, Bobby McGee, la.

La La la, la la la la la la,
La La la la la la la la la, ain`t no bumb on my bobby McGee yeah.
Na na na na na na na na, na na na na na na na na na na na
Hey now Bobby now, Bobby McGee, yeah"

This was all before 8 am. My day had been made. All by the one, the only, Janis Joplin.

Blog virgin

My first blog ever...I am a blogging virgin.
I never thought I would blog, but I guess writing in a journal is soooo 1997.

Have you ever tried to write in a journal in public? It's horrible. People trying to be witty and clever," whatchu doin, writing in your DIARY??" Umm...actually, yes I am ya hun-yuck, and guess who just earned themselves a sentence in my...DIARY! Please don't take that as a compliment, because rest assured it won't be pretty.

I feel like the word diary sounds like a little girl should be writing in it. It should have a lock on the front, be covered in cheap pink felt or glittery heart stickers, and be filled with nothing but secret crushes and gossip about the new girl at school.

A journal on the other hand...that sounds mysterious or profound. Elegant, if you will. When I hear that someone write in a journal, I image them at the end of a dock on a peaceful lake, or in the middle of a grassy field lying on their stomachs, writing about their dreams, hopes, wishes, travels, loves, and loves lost. It would be leather bound, with a torn binding and soft, worn in pages. That's why I started writing in a journal...I liked how they looked, felt, even smelled. I liked the way I felt when I wrote in them.

I started writing with the intention of conveying the deepest thoughts and feelings to these soft pieces of paper. I filled up pages upon pages...for a while. Pretty soon it turned in to what I had done that day, my daily activities instead of my hopes, dreams, and wishes. My journal had turned into a dayplanner. It got boring. It was no longer a release.

Now I am blogging. I have entered a whole new world, of a virtual kind. We will see how this goes, I don't know if this virtual world is ready for me to dig deep into my oh-so-deliciously average life.

Later Days,
